We are a friendly stable only a few miles from central London. Whether you are a beginner, wish to improve your horse riding skills or just prefer to hack and enjoy the scenery and fresh air on Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park, we have something for everyone. The following is a sample of what we offer but we are always happy to accommodate individual requirements..
Your first horse ride with Ridgway Stables.
If you have not ridden a horse with us before, we like your first time with us to be on a one to one basis, to ensure that we match you with the right horse to make your ride with us an enjoyable experience.
Private horse riding lessons.
We suggest that beginners start with a one-hour private lesson. These private lessons allow you to progress at your own pace. See the table opposite for prices, including discounts on offer.
One-day intensive horse riding course
This course will be specially designed to suit your individual requirements. Whether you want to improve your riding technique, relax and enjoy the scenery or even combine the two - we will endeavor to make this a day to remember. Pub lunch is included in the price of £140.
Instructional Hacks
Instructional hacks are an ideal transition from private lesson to group hacks. With a maximum number of 4 people these are designed to improve your riding skills while enjoying the delights of hacking outdoors.
Clothing
We ride out in all weathers, please ensure you wear appropriate warm or waterproof clothing for such conditions. Regrettably, inclement conditions will not be accepted as a reason for cancellation. All clients must wear suitable foot wear i.e. boot or shoe with a heel, not trainers. For your convenience horse riding outdoor wear and equipment can be purchased from our shop - The Gift Horse, which is situated at the stables.
Stable Management Courses
If you would like to learn more about the care of the horses you ride as well as have an opportunity to gain some hands on experience we are running a course on four evenings designed to give you an chance to increase your knowledge in this area. We will cover such topics as horse evolution, psychology, anatomy, feeding, grooming, tacking up and any topics the group would like to cover.
These will run Monday evenings 7pm – 9pm. Cost £85 inclusive. For details and dates please call Julia at the Stables
This is the perfect opportunity for those who wish to experience the joys of learning to ride a horse. Your safety is our prime concern and to make this a fun day you will be assigned a personal riding instructor and a horse which is suited to the first timer.
Come and enjoy the day of your life, for only £160 including lunch. (Please note this course is a mid-week course and not available over the weekends.)
